SriLankan Airlines, already the biggest operator into India, announced that it is adding a further 11 flights from October 31st 2004, increasing flights to 77 into this emerging market which was the world’s second fastest expanding economy last year.

SriLankan Airlines acquired its Fifth Airbus A320 aircraft which increases its fleet to 17. The airline plans to get as many as five more aircraft this year. Of the five, the airline plans to acquire one A340, two A320s and two Turbo Otter air taxis.

SriLankan Airlines has achieved the distinction of being chosen by the Airbus Industrie as the most efficient operator of the Airbus A330 aircraft among all of the world’s airlines for the years 2002 and 2003, in the Small Fleet category of less than ten A330s.
