SriLankan Airlines has introduced an amazing new Five Star Meal Service for passengers in its Business Class cabins, yet another novel method by the award-winning airline to enhance its customer service.
Passengers who pay a Business Class fare now receive a Five-Star Meal Service equivalent to that in First Class on other airlines. However, the seating will remain Business Class.
Captain Milinda Ratnayake, Head of Service Delivery, said: “SriLankan Airlines has declared 2009 to be the ‘Year of the Customer’, and is now fully focused on delighting our passengers. Which other airline anywhere gives you a Five-Star Meal Service for the price of a Business Class ticket?”
The Five Star Meal Service means that the airline’s smiling and friendly cabin crew will offer passengers a seemingly endless choice of food items to choose from. The entire range of food and beverages will be brought to each passenger’s seat, and their choices will be served on to each passenger’s plate. This is in contrast to the previous Business Class service where passengers chose from a menu card and cabin crew gave them previously prepared plates.
Passengers thus have a wider choice as they can indulge themselves with multiple entrees (main items), which was not earlier possible. And of course each passenger dines with fine dining cutlery on a new range of designer plates.
But that’s not all. SriLankan has introduced a new range of fine wines which will also be brought to each passenger in a wine cage, for him or her to choose from.
And the Five Star Meal Service also has all types of egg dishes being made fresh by cabin crew in the galleys on board – scrambled, boiled, baked – and plates are dressed on the spot and served.
The Five Star Meal Service will initially be launched on SriLankan’s European routes (London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome) and introduced to other routes shortly.
Rashmore Ferdinands, Manager Inflight Service Delivery, said: “Our aim is to take our standards back up to and beyond the levels that won us international accolades for inflight service. It was not so long ago that SriLankan’s high standards in service were acclaimed with global awards including ‘World’s Friendliest Cabin Crew’ and first runner-up for the title of ‘Best Cabin Crew in the World’.”
The airline’s cabin crew also recently received intensive training in Five Star Meal Service techniques.
SriLankan has 18 Business Class seats on all its long-haul Airbus A340 aircraft, and 12 Business Class seats on its A330’s and narrowbody A320’s.
Every seat on SriLankan’s widebodied A340 and A330 aircraft has a Touch Screen Entertainment System with over 40 Movie, Television and Radio channels, and 16 Interactive Games. Business Class passengers also have access to an extensive collection of videos, played on personal players at each seat.
